Our facility enjoys a peaceful atmosphere and clean air in the grounds of "Tsaritsa Yoanna" Vocational High School of Agriculture. It features:

  • 2 lecture halls with sound systems
  • Pre-operative wash station with 5 positions
  • 2 practical rooms for performing manipulations
  • Adjacent instrument storage room
  • Veranda and garden for relaxation

To allow you to work in comfort, we provide all the basic consumables along with an examination and patient preparation table. When the occasion arises, you may also use our ultrasound device for safe non-invasive examinations of animals, as well as our inhalation anaesthesia unit, designed to familiarise veterinarians with the basics and advantages of endotracheal general anaesthesia.

Animal welfare

The VetAcademy team is against violence towards animals. Before, during and after practical sessions animals are allowed to display their physiological needs and normal behaviour, and are treated humanely. This is guaranteed by Dr. Evelina Rabadjiyska-Todorova, who completed a specialized course on the topic in Germany.

Accredited by BVA

All courses carry official CPD points

Recognised by BVA and international organisations

We want not only to sustain veterinary medicine in Bulgaria, but to make it flourish.

To achieve this, our center welcomes students and non-professionals who want to learn proper pet care and first aid. By spreading best practices, we hope to achieve our ultimate ideal — a better future for animals and people in Bulgaria.

Meet our team.

Dr. Evelina Rabadzhiyska-Todorova

Co-founder and Managing Director

UltrasoundDental medicineContinuing education

In 2008 she graduated in veterinary medicine at the prestigious TiHo Hannover – the only autonomous veterinary medical university in Germany.

During her ten-year professional experience in practices and clinics in Germany, Dr. Rabadzhiyska-Todorova specialised in the field of ultrasound diagnostics. She developed her competencies in dental medicine under the mentorship of established specialists in the field.

The international experience gained at a leading company for veterinary medical equipment and her drive for development motivated her to start anew in Bulgaria.

In 2019, together with her husband Dr. Zdravko Todorov, she founded the first independent centre for continuing education of veterinarians in Bulgaria.

Graduated in 2011 from the Trakia University, Stara Zagora.

During his studies he participated in the ERASMUS programme through international exchanges and internships abroad – for example at TiHo – Hannover, Germany, and Slovakia.

Thanks to his experience abroad, Dr. Todorov specialised in ophthalmology and surgery under the guidance of Prof. Trbolova (Slovakia) and Prof. Boevé (the Netherlands).

His work for a leading German medical equipment company broadened his horizons and in 2019, together with his wife Dr. Evelina Rabadzhiyska-Todorova, he founded VetAcademy.

From 2020 to 2025 he gained professional experience as a senior official at the Rectorate of Trakia University, Stara Zagora. In 2021 he created and led there the first simulation centre for veterinary medicine students in Eastern Europe. He also took part in establishing the medical simulation centre at the Faculty of Medicine of Trakia University.

He completed a specialisation at the German association of veterinary practice managers. He is currently a doctoral student at the Department of Food Quality and Safety and Veterinary Legislation. Wildlife conservation

"The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man." — Charles Darwin

VetAcademy is a place where I found the drive to develop the veterinary profession in Bulgaria and the desire to improve care for pets.

From early childhood I have dreamed of dedicating my life to helping animals, and I have never doubted that this is my path. I have a strong interest in conservation, protection of endangered species and reducing the number of stray animals.

Tanya Sokolova

Team member

Hello, my name is Tanya and I am an accountant by profession. There must always be balance in life and for me that is working with numbers and documents alongside communicating with people and organising events. My work at VetAcademy is entirely focused on organising the practical workshops, which gives me great satisfaction because I see the result of the work immediately and the smiles of the doctors who took part. I love animals and have always had a pet — at home we share love with a family of British and Scottish cats.

At VetAcademy we care for the present with an eye to the future.

For our shared dreams of progress and growth in companion animal practice, we know we must always remember a piece of the past, namely:

"Every vet was once a student."

We welcome veterinary students from both faculties with open doors, bringing them closer to the everyday work of our profession. They will work with us in the clinic tomorrow, arriving with the mindset of the young generation and bringing new momentum to the future. We count on them to be the heirs of our long-standing work, and they count on us as their support and second family in overcoming the challenges at the start of their career.

Cand. med. vet. Zhakline Ignatova

Born in Belgium but raised in Bulgaria. She has spent her whole life around animals, and perhaps that is exactly what sparked her passion for veterinary medicine. Her fire grew even stronger as she gained more practical experience and confirmed that this is truly her calling.

Cand. med. vet. Alexander Garev

Born in Plovdiv and a 3rd-year veterinary medicine student at Trakia University. He chose this field because it has been his dream since childhood and he wants to contribute as much as possible to society. In his free time he is involved in music and programming. Professionally, he wants to work with farm animals or in laboratory diagnostics.

Cand. med. vet. Nicholas Popkovachev

Nicholas is currently studying veterinary medicine at Trakia University in Stara Zagora. Although of Bulgarian origin, he spent his entire life in the USA and Canada. Returning to Bulgaria surprised many people, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions he has ever made. He believes that success comes with persistence and good motivation, and that opportunities exist everywhere — what matters is being able to find and use them in the best possible way.

Cand. med. vet. Andrea Flurenzu

Andrea Flurenzu, born and raised in Cyprus. She chose veterinary medicine because she did not want to work with people — though nobody told her that is a large part of the job. She quickly realized she would accept that fact in the name of her love and desire to help our four-legged friends. After all, someone has to help those who cannot help themselves.
